Mommy and Me by Lilly Pulitzer Kids

When Lilly Pulitzer kids set out to create a line that both the mother and the children would look smashing in, she really hit the fashion nail on the head.  Lilly’s designs do not come off as being too cutsie.  On the contrary, her matching and semi-matching outfits are amazingly sophisticated and appropriate for both mother and child to wear in unison without looking silly or over-the-top.

Mother and Daughter:

Lilly’s ability to pull together two looks that are similar without being exactly alike is amazing.  The use of complimentary patterned fabric and simply designed dresses make this a successful endeavor.  Not only does Lilly Pulitzer pull together dresses for both mother and daughter, but there are bathing suits to match the dresses as well.  If you have an infant you want to dress, this line carries a few baby dresses with matching diaper covers that go very well with any of the matching mother outfits.  All of the pieces are age-appropriate and scream retro, but not too loudly.  A job very well done in this line.

Mother and Son:

Although not as obvious, Lilly has put together similar fabrics in both the women’s line and the young boys’ line of clothes.  Thus, you could also make it a point to have your son, your daughter, and yourself dress in all the same fabric colors, but in different clothing designs.  For example, the mother could wear an elegant shift dress while the daughter and son wear shorts of the same pattern or similar color as the mother.  All together, it would make quite a statement without being too pretentious or overdone.  And if these matching outfits didn’t fit your everyday style, they would be great in a family portrait to hang on your wall.
