1. The first step you should do is to moisten the leather which has been cut in an inch wide and six inches long. You need to place the leather on the hard surfaces such as the marble, stainless steel, and the tile. It is better for you to moisten the leather with the wet sponge. You should ensure that you moisten enough but it is not sopping wet. If you press the leather with your fingertip, there is no water comes out.
2. After you done that step, you can move to the design part. You can choose the design from many brands like Dolce, Dior, or Channel. For the beginner, you should choose the simple design. Made the pattern by drawing the design on the tracing paper. You may put the tracing paper on the leather. With the pencil, you should redraw the design with the proper pressure. Do not use too much pressure but it is enough to leave the mark on the leather. Take away the paper and with the tool which has the pointed tool, you should deepen the lines.
3. You will need to press down the tooled design area. It will help the leather to raise and make it stand out. If you wish to have other models, you will need the modeling tool. You should rub the front side around the design area with the small circle motions.
You may have the hot design by burning the leather. To do this, you will need the tools which help you to do this technique. The tool which will help you to do this is the soldering iron which has the good tip. First, you will need to heat the iron and when it reaches the right heat you may trace the design on your leather. The heat will give the burn effect to your leather. If you want to get the darker effect, you will need to give more pressure from the iron.
