Ideas for reuse, recycle and selection employing glass

Disposable plastic-lidded containers are now available in the market. After you use it one, toss it in the trash can. With a simple preparation we can economize and make a greener planet. At the end of the day we could see down into a more or less empty trash can. How about considering the use of glass mason jars for some of the leftover food storage in the refrigerator? The canning season is here and glass mason jars are appearing on the grocery store shelves. For a one-time investment, of less than ten dollars in some areas, a dozen Glass Bottles can be purchased. They don't have to be discarded in a landfill. Wide mouth pints are great for storing small amounts of leftovers, and wide mouth quarts for easy storage of larger portions. They make great cookie jars and they're transparent! Wash the empty jars and reuse them for generations. A number of companies bag mustard in a small glass jars which have the right size to become a reusable pudding containers. Start cooking your own pudding for your family from your own special formula. You can have fun in reusing and also be reminded that what you prepare in your own kitchen won't have additives and dyes.

This is advantageous for your family. Your children will be healthier and have fun in the process. Involving you children is never too early to become conscious of healthier food products that are bagged in reusable glass containers found in the grocery store. In the late of 1800's there was a few packed in glass jars. Hazel Atlas Glass Corporation that lead the way in making of glass fruit/mason jars. By 1902 glass jars were being widely used. Also they pioneered in mayonnaise jars and baby food jars as well as pickle jars. They also authored in making glass tumblers, catsup bottles and jars for salve, ink, glue, shoe polish and even cosmetic creams. . Reusable and sturdy glass storage containers with embossed glass lids were displayed in refrigerator shelves. Snuff was packed in glass bottles as well as the chipped beef, medicine, soft drinks, jelly, peanut butter and syrup. Coffee was packed in reusable Glass Bottles that sit on some kitchen counters today. These glass jars are still being used for storage of foods like dried beans, sugar, brown rice or even homemade fudge. Beautiful and colorful glass dinnerware, given away by the early door to door salesmen, are collector items today. Get on track and you'll by no means look back. Whenever you observe an immense landfill with bulldozers hiking over the mountains of waste, you will recognize that there is a better way.

Wood Clay - 6 Oz $8.95 Wood clay is a very pliable material made from ground wood. It is easy to sculpt in the moist state and can be carved when dry. It burns out and has non-toxic fumes. Use wood clay to easily create hollow pieces or open filigree designs in silver. 6 oz. How to Use Make the desired shape and dry completely. You can dry at room temperature for 24 hours or in a dehydrator for 4-5 hours to insure that the entire wood clay piece is completely dry. If there is any moisture in the wood clay, the heat of firing will convert it to steam which can split the metal clay layer as it escapes. Storage The unused portion of the wood clay should be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and then stored in a zip-lock plastic bag. It can be softened slightly by adding water but is best kept moist in a tightly sealed bag. Firing the material does produce some smoke. To avoid possible irritations, fire metal clay pieces using wood clay components in a well ventilated room or outside.
